Hygiene & Prevention
Here at York Place Dental Practice we place great emphasis on prevention and have a dedicated team committed to providing the highest standard of prophylaxis care.
We use the latest Airflow technology to provide gentle, effective cleaning without the discomfort associated with traditional professional cleaning methods.
Airflow cleaning is pain free and will leave your teeth clean, bright and free from plaque deposits and unsightly stains caused by smoking, coffee and other good/drinks.
Gum Disease Treatment
Gum disease is an inflammatory disease and occurs in response to a build-up of plaque and bacteria on the teeth. It can cause bleeding gums, painful swollen gums, bad breath and in advanced cases even tooth loss.
Gum disease is largely treatable these days and with the right intervention it is no longer considered inevitable that teeth will be lost.
Not all gum disease behaves the same. The Dental Hygienist is specifically trained in the treatment and prevention of gum disease and will be able to devise a treatment and home are plan to suit your needs.

Oral Hygiene Visits for Children
Our hygienist can see your child in a friendly environment for plaque assessment, oral hygiene advice and toothbrush instruction and diet advice and assessment. She will use disclosing solution to help your child to understand and identify plaque and will use a mild pain free airflow wash to remove the plaque and introduce your child to gentle preventative dental prophylaxis.
Orthodontic Cleaning & Maintenance
Keeping your orthodontic appliances clean is essential to maintain the health of your teeth and gums during treatment. Our hygienist can help you to adapt your oral hygiene routine whilst you are wearing your braces and can use airflow technology to safely and effectively remove plaque and stains from around the brackets.
